Free At Last!

Here's how it works:

McChump Industries is starting things off by making a pledge of 3 cents per mile in this Tour, currently estimated to be 9500 ground miles and 8000 air miles. In addition, at every stop, the Tour will make a bet of $5 on one horse on the card, with whatever winnings on those bets to be donated to United Pegasus.

Furthermore, McChump #1 has gathered up all the loose change laying around his cardboard box home under the freeway to put together a betting bankroll for this Tour, and any winnings from that (separate from the $5 fund) after all is said and done will also be contributed to United Pegasus.

Of course you might ask "Hey chump! What does this have to do with me?"

Well, two things.

First of all, if you come out to meet the Tour at any of the stops listed below, you too will be comped to a $5 bet, with the proceeds going to United Pegasus. Secondly, if you can't come out to one of the scheduled tracks, or don't feel like meeting up, or whatever, you can still make a pledge of some sort, like based on miles, or how many grays win on the card, or how many flat tires the Tour will encounter, or whatever. (Just try and make it something easily verifiable.) This latter category, the "creative" pledges, can be dedicated to whatever racing charity your heart desires.

Note please: At the end I'll ask you make out your checks directly to the charity, to alleviate any concerns about this being a scam. Those of you who have known me for a number of years know that's not going to happen anyhow. United Pegasus is a registered charity, so your contribution will be tax deductible. Other charities may vary. Cindy Pierson's website has a nice list of other equine charities, and then of course there's jockey charities and a whole host of other possibilities.

In addition, when all is said and done, each person who has pledged (and paid) $25 or more will receive some small racing token of appreciation courtesy of McChump Industries, but just what that might be is unknown at this point.

And of course, hey, there'll be a daily update detailing all the stupidity that occurs on this Tour.

If you wish to meet up at any of the tracks, or make some sort of pledge to this fundraiser, please email me at [my email back then] with the word "fundraiser" in the subject line. If you want to specify a charity other than United Pegasus, specify that in the body of your email.
